GED Math Review

This course will review the skills necessary to pass the Mathematics portion of the GED. Topics that will be covered include: Whole numbers and Operations, Decimal Numbers and Operations, Fraction and Operations, Statistics and Data, Percents, Probability, Algebra and Geometry.

Lesson 1: Getting Started

In this lesson we want to take a few moments to get to know about you, your concerns about the math part of the GED test and what you already know. We will be taking the practice test in your book and reviewing what it means as you develop a study plan for the next few weeks.

Lesson 2: Number Sense

In this lesson we will be looking at some basic operations involving whole numbers. The work we do here will help us with future lessons. In addition to the basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division we will be working with powers and square roots. This lesson will also introduce to some of the basics of working with word problem and how to solve them.

Lesson 3: Decimals

In the last lesson we worked with whole numbers. In this lesson we will be working with decimal numbers, numbers with digits to the right of the decimal point. We probably use decimal numbers more regularly than whole numbers since money and prices are typically written as decimals. We will be reviewing the basic operations as they relate to decimal numbers.

Lesson 4: Fractions

In the last lesson we worked with decimal numbers. In this lesson we will be working with fractions. Fractions are closely related to decimal numbers in that all fractions can be written as decimal numbers and decimal numbers can be written as fractions. We will be reviewing the basic operations as they relate to fractions.
