Lesson 1: Getting Started

In this lesson we are going to install MySQL and make sure you have it running. We will also lay some groundwork for what we will do in later lessons.

Although you may be tempted to turn to third-party tools for designing your database, please have patience and work through the examples in this lesson and the next. You will learn valuable skills that you will need regardless of how you use MySQL. We will learn to work with other tools in Lesson 4.
